Copic Markers and Techniques Questions?!?

Good Evening! I wanted to reach out to my readers to possibly help me with a couple questions I have about Copic markers and the like. I am still SUPER new to using Copic markers and I know a lot of learning comes from trial and error. I am however having something very frustrating happen to me quite often. Ok here goes:

When trying to color and image using Copic markers stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto (for this example) Bazzill Coconut Swirl paper I get this bleeding effect. It's happened with another paper as well so I think it's something I am doing. Is the paper getting too saturated?!!? What is going on here!? You can see it around the mouth and the hat of the image on the left.

SORRY FOR THE TERRIBLE QUALITY. I just quickly used my web cam! :/

Please help me! Any and all tips and tricks will be MUCH appreciated!!!

XoXo,

Katie

Some papers do not work well with Copic Markers. My suggestion would be to use the papers that Copic sells or Nina papers. They work best with Memento Inks and Copics. HTH

It's the paper. It used to happen to me too...even when I used 90lb weight nina papers. I started using Gina K pure luxury cardstock...it's 120lb weight, and I have never had the problem again =) Just google Gina K and you will find it. Hope that helps.

Hey pumpkin!
Yup the other ladies are right... it's the paper you're using. Sorry to say. I've never tried the Gina K but I heard it's good. I've been using Copic Xpress it cardstock and it works better. I have to admit though that I still sometimes over saturate the paper. I guess it all depends on how you colour. Let me know what you switch to. i'm interested in knowing if the Gina K is better than the Copic Xpress it.
