Merry Christmas to Everyone!

Good afternoon... or should I say GREAT afternoon. I sit here after most of the festivities are over thinking about all my amazing gifts I received from my loved ones this holiday season.  My super amazing husband surprised me with LOTS of My Favorite Things products and a gift card to a local scrapbook store! Why can't the store be open today?!?! We celebrate Christmas with my family on Christmas Eve so I was able to open all my scrappy goodness last night and like a small child within an hour of opening my gifts I was in my scraproom playing.  I just love him to pieces for paying attention to my crafting things and listening to me when I talk about products and tools that I want. I was also blessed with lots of coffee and a new french press! My family loves me! :))

Well, I really hope that everyone has had such an amazing Christmas and is enjoying this time of the year. Lots of family time and traditions to celebrate.

Merry Christmas

MB Treasurista's Winter Wonderland Blog Hop

Hello and thank you for joining us for the MB's Treasurista Winter Wonderland  Blog Hop. I'm so happy you can join me in our first ever MB's Treasurista DT Exclusive blog hop! This is also the debut of the new Design Team. :)

There are some amazing ladies on this hop so please make sure you visit all the stops. You won't want to miss a thing. If you are coming from Lina at  Sweet Nothings Paper Co (http://sweetnothingspaperco.blogspot.com), you are right on track. If you just came across my blog and would like to hop along, please start over with Misty at  MB's Treasurista as she's our awesome hostess and owner. Ok now on to my project.....

I made an altered picture frame using Jillibean Soup Christmas collection called Christmas Eve Chowder. How adoradle are those penguins?!? I adhered the paper to the frame after I painted the back and sides with a turqouise paint from Folk Art. I then sanded and inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut Stain. If you look closely you will notice that I added both the clear and the blue diamond crystals to the centers of the snowflakes on the background. I love the look that little touch made.

I then cut out images from the paper collection to add some dimension to the bottom of the frame. I edged the inside of the frame with the brown Chinese braided trim. like the simple but elegant touch that added to the frame. At the bottom right hand corner of the frame I used a light blue button from my stash and tied the brown and white bakers twine that I received from Misty in a bow.

On the top right and corner of the actual framed area I was thinking outside the box with some of the items that Misty sent in the December DT package. She sent us several of the large acrylic flowers in different colors. I wanted to use the large ones but was not sure how I was going to incorporate them into my project. I started staring at it and the longer I did the more I wanted a snowflake. I die cut a snowflake from the Tim Holtz snowflake die used a glue pad and sprinkled extra fine pink glitter all over it. I then broke apart two of the large acrylic flowers and glued them to the back creating a very dimensional gorgeous snowflake and added the centerpiece from the flowers to finish it off.

On the lower left hand corner I added a couple I Am Roses that matched the paper collection. I then placed two of the clear and one pink mini acrylic flowers with stems into the other flowers. Behind the cluster of flowers I added an acrylic flower spray. Next to the Recollections small flowers I adhered a 1" organza butterfly in brown.

Wait i'm not done yet, I do have some blog candy...

My Favorite Things Guest Designer Call Submission

The company My Favorite Things is having a Guest Designer Call. I am very excited to say that I have submitted for this DT call. The theme or challenge for the call is 'Play Tag'.... How Fun! I LOVE making tags especially when you have such amazing products like the My Favorite Things stamps and die-namics to work with. For this project I used the amazing a la modes- Miss You A Latte cling stamp and the Dainty Doily Die-namic. The stamp can be found HERE and the die HERE. The paper collection I used for this tag is the My Minds Eye Lost and Found 2 Rosy Love collection. I just adored the colors in this collection and thought they would look super cute with the tag I had in mind. Here are the pictures of my DT submission:

For the tag I used the Tim Holtz Tag and Bookplate die. I adhered the patterned paper to some medium weight chipboard then die cut the tag. I recycled a Starbucks coffee sleeve, turned it inside out and placed it around the tag to add some cohesion among my theme. I used the very detailed Dainty Doily Die-Namic with a piece of gray card stock and placed it over the coffee sleeve. I then cut out a circle with another piece of patterned paper to add dimension to the tag.

I stamped the MFT image on white cardstock then I colored her with Copic markers. I fussy cut her out and then placed dimensional stickers to give yet some more dimension. Can you tell I like my projects to be very dimensional?!? :) How cute is this stamp! I also want to note what a good quality MFT stamps are; they are excellent.

For the detail and sentiment part of the tag I used one of the 3 sentiments the stamp collection came with. I stamped it on a piece of kraft cardstock, cut it out in a banner shape and then layered it on a piece of patterned paper and again cut that out in a banner shape. I adhered the sentiment down  and bowed it out a bit. I chose flowers and embellishments to match the papers.

I really love how this tag turned out and hope you do as well. If you have not worked with My Favorite Things products before you should check them out. With new releases monthly and a wide variety of products you will always have items on you Wish List. I think I add more and more items weekly! :)

Please leave me some love and tell me what you think about my tag and thank you for visiting!

XoXo,

Katie
