Back to School Sophie- SNSC

August... back to school time. I work in retail so this time of the year is a wee bit stressful for me. But, when I was in school I LOVED this time of the year.  The new clothes, new school supplies, new teacher and classmates! Some called me a nerd but I thought school was super cool. That is why when I saw the new release "Back to School Sophie" I instantly fell in love with her. I made an encouraging card that would be GREAT for any kid that is going back to school and a bit hesitant about what the year holds.

For the front of my card of course I used Back to School Sophie from Sweet Nothings Stamp Co. as my main image. The paper collection I used is We R Memory Keepers Hall Pass collection because it just went perfectly with cute little Sophie. I added some matching buttons for some embellishment and that's it! The sketch I used is the MFT Week 84 sketch. I kept the inside as simple as can be.

I simple sentiment from MFT Essential Sentiments stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Check out Sweet Nothings Stamp Co for all the latest Sophie and Lucky images! There are so many adorable ones to choose from!

My Very First Layout!!

I wanted to share with you today my first layout I have ever made! :) I wanted to start a new tradition for my amazing husband and I. Every year we take a picture on our anniversary and so I decided to scrap that picture onto a layout and then on the back of the layout write about the year we had. Things we dealt with, places we traveled to, our favorite restaurants that year, things we did for the first time, where we lived etc. I didn't get to take a super great picture of it but here it is:

I wasn't sure about that big empty space on the right so I may fill that in with something. If you have any suggestions, let me know!!! :)

This & That....

Hello my fellow craftbloggers! I haven't written a more personal inspired blog for some time so I thought I would do so. I do have a card to share with you at the end of this post, so scroll down if you want to just see the pictures.

My husband and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary yesterday! I feel so lucky to have such an amazing husband. I know a lot of wives feel this way about their husbands but I do as well.  Clearly he knows that I have a love of paper crafts and anything that has to do with paper crafts.  I also LOVE receiving cards.  So what did my amazing husband do for me... HE MADE ME A CARD!!! :) At first I was very hesitant when he asked me to kindly clean my desk because he couldn't find where anything was with my mess in the way (how dare him) ;)! Then he kindly asked me where to find a couple supplies for he was not familiar with all my drawers and baskets and their contents. I helped him find the few things he asked about and away he crafted. It was such a sight to see him over there working with my paper cutter and bakers twine. Picturesque really....  Well, anyway he did a great job so I thought I should share his creation for you to see. I apologize in advance for the quality of the picture it was taken on my phone. Here it is:

Isn't it super adorable!!! :) I love him so much.

So of course I made him a card but I really challenged myself with this one. I typically make cards with a Copic colored image and lots of flowers. This card has neither. I used Copics very minimally and I love how it turned out. It's a very clean looking card to me at least. :) My husband is an avid road bicyclist and so I wanted to incorporate that into my theme for the card and so I did.  Here is what mine looks like:

I also did another first yesterday... I created my VERY first layout! :) It was somewhat challenging even though the one I made is pretty simple. I will take pictures this evening to post. I so hope you will come back and check it out. Until later tonight....

MBT- Teach Me Tuesday

Hello again and welcome to another Teach Me Tuesday tutorial featuring products from MB's Treasurista! I wasn't able to create a video for this tutorial so I took a million pictures! :p I literally took a picture of each step for this tutorial.

Here we go!!!! MB's Treasurista is now carrying light weight chipboard. I recently purchased the Tim Holtz Word Play die and wanted to try my hand at making glittered letters. So I did!!!

List of supplies:
light weight chipboard
acrylic paint
tacky glue
glossy accents
Tim Holtz Word Play die
fine glitter
paint brush

First you will trim down a piece of the lightweight chipboard to diecut with the Word Play die. Then cut out with your diecutting machine.

Here is the letter after it has been cut:

Then you will take whatever acrylic paint you are wanting to use. I chose a color that was very close to the glitter color I used to be sure if some glitter didn't stick it would be less noticeable.

After you have chosen the color you want to use you will then paint your chipboard piece. It doesn't have to be painted perfectly just a thin layer of paint.

I then use my heat tool to be sure the paint is completely dry before moving onto the next step.

After the paint is thoroughly dry I used a tacky glue to add glue to the entire painted chipboard piece.

After the letter is covered then you will dump your glitter over the wet glue. This is my favorite part! :)

Be sure you have covered the entire letter and do not have bare spots. After you are sure you love the way the glitter looks you will the cover the glittered letter with glossy accents. You really want to place a thick layer of glossy accents over the letter.

You will then let it dry for quite some time. The best thing I have found for me is to do this last step before I go to bed for the night that way the glossy accents can dry the entire night before I touch it. I can't tell you how many I have messed up because of impatience.

Here is what the letter looks like completely dry:

I love the look of the finished product and can't wait to show you what I have made with these letters!!! :) Be on the lookout for it soon! If you have any questions please leave me a comment!!!
